   What is more unfortunate are the thousands that are told. "You do not live in Nevada, therefore, incorporating there will offer you no benefits." This is simply not true.

Steps to Complete
the Nevada Business License

When your business is located in Nevada it will need to obtain a complete local license. This is a sample checklist if your business is located in the city of Las Vegas.

Part 1:

I. Call Business License Departments for fees:

1. Department of Taxation - (702) 455-0174 (if no resale number*, typically $25).

2. Employers Insurance Company- (702) 837-3000. Now need to fax in a quote to them first-they typically do not take entities with one employee you have to call a local insurance company to get coverage. NCP recommends calling Charles Haggan at (702) 822-6070 for a quote if you have one employee for your corporation. An LLC taxed as a partnership with no employees is not required to obtain this policy. The city does not require the entity to obtain a workman's comp policy number before you obtain a license. The county does. This still means that if your company is located in the city you will still need to obtain a workman's comp policy.

II. Write checks, one for each department.

Part 2.

I. Instructions to fill out the forms:

1. Fill out Nevada Business Registration, except for signing it.

2. Make three (3) copies (total of 4 forms, all will have original signatures).

3. Sign each copy (must be an original signature).

II. City of Las Vegas Requirements


1. Nevada Business Registration form.

2. Copy of department of taxation application (this you will get after you go to the department of taxation-they give it to you for receiving the business license).

3. If you are in subleased office, you need to bring a copy of the lease agreement.

4. You can not be at a PO box or mailbox etc.

5. Need to know the number of employees.

7. Copy of articles and a list of officers.

8. $30 non-refundable processing fee.
i.e. advertising business is $200:

Make checks payable to: City of Las Vegas.

III. Employers Insurance Company


1. Recommend calling Charles Haggan at (702) 822-6070 to obtain a policy if required.

2. If you have 2 or more employees call the Employers Insurance Company directly at- (702) 837-3000.

VI. Employment Security Division- (775) 687-4540 phone number.

1. The only form for ESD is the Nevada Business Registration. There is no fee for this part of the license. Just fax this form in to (775) 687-1046. Then you will receive your unemployment number.

V. Department of Taxation:

1. Complete their form along with a check to the Department of Taxation for $25.

Special Notes:

If anyone owns more than 25% of the stock of the corporation they will be liable for any license fees that are due.

Also, all corporate officers must be listed, even if they won 0%.
