Is
Workman's Compensation
Required for a Nevada Corporation?
1. If you
are a sole proprietor you are not required to buy workmans compensation
insurance but you can; if you are a sole proprietor working under a
contract for a company, they may either require you to provide this
coverage on yourself and show proof of such or they will include you
under the policy.
2. If you
are a corporation with only yourself as a employee you are not required
to buy workmans compensation insurance but you can. As soon as the corporation
hires another employee the rules change.
It was
summed up as follows: if you are a sole proprietorship or the only employee
of your own company, you cannot sue yourself for work related injuries
therefore you do not need insurance. It is a good idea to get insurance
(workers' comp or disability) to protect your future earnings and possible
medical bills.
